Abstract

The article presents the translation of an article by Marc Maurice, the importance of which lies in the analysis of three comparative approaches, including societal, in which the author is inscribed. The origin of the societal approach is discussed, current lines of research and its validity is justified.

Marc Maurice's article critically contrasts three comparative approaches (universalist, culturalist, and societal), focusing on explaining the societal approach as a perspective that transcends the other two, while considering the relationship of phenomena to context, linking levels micro and macro and seeks to establish generalizations without losing sight of the actors.
