Abstract

This article reflects on empirical evidence located in Mexico City to explore the spatial distribution of illegal events of forced property transfer that were reported by the population to state operators. The article describes the place of violence in the forced transfer of property in Mexico City, both on a national and local scale. The article provides evidence to discuss the normative and material conditions that facilitate or limit the intervention of the criminal justice system in the resolution of this type of property conflicts. The article demonstrates that forced property transfers tend to be concentrated in certain neighborhoods, mainly in the neighborhoods of the city center, an area disputed for its historical value and the urban facilities it represents.
