Abstract

The contemporary LGBTQ+ movement in the West is currently facing resistance and controversy over its adoption of an ideology, influenced by queer theory and transhumanism, that deconstructs the categories of sex and gender and prioritizes the concept of gender identity over sex in areas such as law, medicine, sports and culture. Through the analysis of the discourse of the website of the influential American organization Human Rights Campaign, we seek to understand this ideology by analyzing mainly the sections of: glossary of terms on sexuality and gender, pronouns and flags of sexual and gender identities. It is hoped that the bases of the ideology and its use of language become clear in order to understand the root of the current cultural battle.
